Sonja Czekalski is a Connecticut based interdisciplinary artist, educator, and curator. Her current work embeds itself in the fourth wave of American feminism meeting at the intersection of women’s craft, visceral memory, and sustainability. In 2021, Czekalski earned her MFA at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design.
Czekalski is an Assistant Professor of Art at Central Connecticut State University and the Art Education Program Coordinator. Recent national and international exhibitions include Sebastol Center for the Arts in Sebastopol CA, the Danforth Art Museum in Framingham MA, Newport Art Museum in Newport RI, RANT Arts in Burnie, Tasmania, and World of Thread in Ontario, Canada. She is an artist board member at Hera Gallery in Wakefield RI. Recent curatorial work includes Tangled Roots: Echoes of Her Story in Environmental Justice at the Chen Art Gallery, Central Connecticut State University, and LABOR a virtual exhibition at Hera Gallery.
